What will I be studying? A stimulating and wide ranging course designed to develop innovative and commercially aware designers. |
What sort of coursework will I have to do, how will the coursework influence my final mark? There is a very large coursework project. This project is worth 60% of the final GCSE. |

What sort of activities will I be doing in class? Visual communications, such as symbols and logos. Packaging, Pop ups and Posters and promotions, books and boxes of all kinds. |
How will I be examined? |

Do I need special skills? No special skills, but an interest and desire to be creative would be an advantage. The use of computers is encouraged and required. |
What qualifications will I achieve? GCSE in Design Technology |

How will I be assessed? There will be a ‘continuous assessment’ of projects and a full ‘criteria based’ project for the coursework. |
What else do I need to know? Am I a suitable person for this subject? Can I do it? Special equipment will be needed. |

What sort of homework will I be expected to do? Continuous homework as it is required for the projects. A lot of homework for the coursework projects. |

What deadlines will I need to meet? There will be lots of deadlines for all the projects.

What can this course lead to in the future? You could become a designer of any kind, or be a journalist or an architect, run a business, or work in the advertising industry or any kind of media (including television and film). |

The KS3 Curriculum is currently undergoing review in light of the new government directives. KS3 information will be added as soon as we have undergone our internal review which will start on the training day
