ICT - AIDA, CIDA and DIDA

KS4 Curriculum information

What will I be studying?

AiDA (Award in Digital Applications) or CiDA (Certificate in Digital Applications) -This is one option choice. Together with the core ICT lesson this is worth 2 GCSEs).  DiDA qualifications prepare students for the real world of work or further education.  They are designed to stimulate students’ creativity and develop real-world, practical skills that will motivate learning across a wide range of subjects.  As a suite of qualifications, DiDA offers progression from the Award (AiDA), which is equivalent to one GCSE, to the Certificate (CiDA), and on to the full Diploma (DiDA), equivalent to four GCSEs.  

 

 

What sort of coursework will I have to do, how will the coursework influence my final mark?

  • using the internet and intranets.
  • creating business documents.
  • designing presentations.
  • creating websites with tables, graphics and hyperlinks.
  • creating and using spreadsheets.
  • using formatting tables and mailmerge when word processing.
  • scanners and the use of software to alter images.
  • capturing and editing sound.
  • create complex presentations.
  • create complex websites.
  • creating databases and the use of queries to obtain information.

What sort of activities will I be doing in class?

1 project each year, taking approximately 35 hours each.

How will I be examined?

No terminal written paper

Do I need special skills?

  • Enjoy using Computers
  • Enjoy Practical Work
  • Course relavent to your future employment
  • Organised and well able to meet deadlines

 

What qualifications will I achieve?

How will I be assessed?

Carried out in class by Summative Project
Brief, which is set by the exam board. It
is a series of tasks, which need to be
completed in controlled conditions.

Assessment method: 100% coursework. Internally marked.

 

What else do I need to know?

  • Level 1 award; Pass, Credit Distinction (Equivalent to 2 GCSE CC-GG)

or

Level 2 award: Pass, Credit or Distinction (Equivalent to 2 GCSE A*A* - CC)

What sort of homework will I be expected to do?

One homework per week, either to help with building understanding or to be added to your e-portfolio.

What deadlines will I need to meet?

There are staged deadlines throughout the course (each half term / end of module area.)

 

What can this course lead to in the future?

The Diploma in Digital Applications will give you a solid grounding in all areas of ICT, enabling you to go on to further study or to go into the workplace.
