KS4 Curriculum information

Examination Board : AQA

What will I be studying?

Four units of work on Christianity.
Ultimate Questions
Life Issues
Planet Earth

What sort of coursework will I have to do, how will the coursework influence my final mark?

No coursework

 

What sort of activities will I be doing in class?

Discussion of ideas around the topic, associated with reading and interpreting sources in books and videos.

How will I be examined?

One exam of 45 minutes.  Short answer questions on Christianity and one essay type answer on each of the other 3 units.

Do I need special skills?

Listening to others and joining in discussion are very helpful.

General academic skills.

What qualifications will I achieve?

GCSE (Short Course) in Religious Studies

How will I be assessed?

Two examination papers at the end of the course and two pieces of coursework.

Examinations – 75%
Coursework – 25%

What else do I need to know?

There are opportunities for field-work linked to the coursework.  There is also a residential stay at the Malham Tarn Field Study Centre in the Yorkshire Dales, at the start of Year 11.

 

What sort of homework will I be expected to do?

Homeworks related to lesson activities, set as required.

What can this course lead to in the future?

Further studies at ‘A’ level in Religious Education.  It would be of help in careers working with people from different religious and cultural backgrounds.

 

KS3 Curriculum Information


The KS3 Curriculum is currently undergoing review in light of the new government directives. KS3 information will be added as soon as we have undergone our internal review which will start on the training day
