What sort of coursework will I have to do, how will the coursework influence my final mark?
The Citizenship activity chosen is done as a group and the coursework requires a record of what has been done, and an associated analysis by each individual.

What sort of activities will I be doing in class?
Discussion of specific topics, researching information on particular issues using text books, sources and videos.

How will I be examined?
There are 3 sections
- short answer questions and one extended answer on the Citizenship activity
- Short answer questions based on data provided
- Short answer questions on the 3 themes and an extended answer on 1 of them.

Do I need special skills?
Listening to others and joining in discussion are very helpful. Being able to work as part of a group.
General academic skills.

What qualifications will I achieve?
A GCSE (Short Course) in Citizenship Studies
|
How will I be assessed?
One final examination paper of 1 hour 15 minutes, worth 60%. One coursework on a Citizenship activity, worth 40%.

What else do I need to know?
The Citizenship activity can be chosen from a range offered and needs to be undertaken as a group.

What sort of homework will I be expected to do?
Homeworks related to lesson activities, as required. Homework research and preparation linked to the Citizenship activity.

What deadlines will I need to meet?
Mini-deadlines linked to various stages of the Citizenship activity, with a deadline in the Autumn term of Year 11.

What can this course lead to in the future?
Can be useful as a preparation for ‘A’ level subjects such as Economics or Sociology. Could be used in careers working in public service or the Law, as well as simply being a citizen of the UK.
